Frequently Asked Questions
A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning using standardized, evidence-based measures. It helps identify strengths and weaknesses, clarify diagnoses, and guide treatment or educational planning. Evaluations are useful for school-aged children with learning or attention challenges, adults experiencing cognitive decline or mood changes, and older adults with memory concerns or suspected dementia. They are also helpful for understanding recovery after brain injuries or strokes. Dr. Davis integrates traditional neuropsychology with modern technology to provide accurate, efficient, and insightful evaluations. Her process-based approach goes beyond surface-level scores to uncover the "why" behind symptoms and deliver personalized recommendations. Common referral concerns include ADHD, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury (TBI), dementia (including differential diagnosis of Alzheimer's, vascular, Lewy body, and frontotemporal dementia), and mood-related cognitive changes. Dr. Davis is currently out-of-network for insurance plans. However, a superbill can be provided for potential reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to inquire about coverage for neuropsychological testing. Get a good night’s rest, eat a balanced meal, and bring any relevant records (e.g., school reports, medical history). You may also bring a list of questions or concerns to ensure all issues are addressed during the intake and feedback sessions. What is a neuropsychological evaluation?
